The white tranquility of mountains is disturbed by colorful winter sports enthusiasts who enjoy downhill skiing. The short film is an audiovisual experience, an abstract dance of freedom that reflects the joy and fragility of being.
Edmunds Jansons, born in 1972 in Saldus, Latvia, is director, animator, book illustrator, and founder of the animation film studio Atom Art. He studied TV directing at Academy of Culture, graduated MA at Estonian Academy of Art - the masterclass by Priit Pärn in 2012, and right now is working on his creative PhD. Edmunds teaches animation directing at Academy of Arts of Latvia and as guest tutor at animation film school La Poudriere in France. He is also a film expert at Culture Endowment Fund and National Film Centre of Latvia.
In a cave it awakes. It has the appearance of a human being, but it is nothing more than an empty puppet. As the boundaries between itself and others are blent, it realises the cycle of life and death.
Shinobu Soejima produces short stop-motion films, installations, and sculptures employing organic materials such as rice, meat, insects, as well as puppets. By fully utilizing the mechanics of animation, she explores the dissolution of boundaries between life and non-life, center and periphery, and the visible and the invisible. Her works have been presented internationally at film festivals and exhibitions, and have received numerous awards, including a Special Mention from the Ecumenical Jury at the 68th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, the Bronze Satoshi Kon Award at the Fantasia International Film Festival, a Jury Selection at the 22nd Japan Media Arts Festival, and the Eriko Kimura Award at Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi 2018.
On a hot August afternoon, the family gathered at the table remembers uncle Botão: the Colonial War, emigration to France, where he lived and worked thirty years as a garbage man. Memories of each are crossed to tell the story of a man who lived a hard life through humor and fantasy, like when he returned to Belmonte, in a van full of trash, turned into a real treasure.
In 2009 finishes her course at Fine Arts in Lisbon. After working in several animation films as inbetweener and art finalist, applies to the Animation MA at Arts University Bournemouth where she directs her first animation short "Three Weeks in December". In 2013 moves to Porto, where she works in BAP as an animator and painter, for several productions of BANDO A PARTE. In 2016 she co-directs with Alexandra Ramires (Xá), the animation short "Drop by Drop". In 2022 premieres her film "The Garbage Man". She is now co-directing with Alexandra Ramires their most recent animation "Percebes", produced by BAP Animation Studio, a production Cooperative of which she is one of the founding members.This project is produced by BAP Animations Studio - producers Alexandra Ramires, Laura Gonçalves, David Doutel and Vasco Sá.

He also directed ending of anime "Everything becomes F". In 2015, group_inou's music video "EYE" obtained the New Face Award at "19th Japan Media Art Festival". He is currently working at INS Studio.

Baku Hashimoto is a visual artist and filmmaker in Tokyo. He works on everything from MVs and web features to interactive art, conducts experiments in different modes of expression, and explores diverse styles of video and graphics. His major project include promotional products for Adobe, Nike, along with videos for artists like group_inou and Olga Bell. He is the winner of the 19th Japan Media Arts Festival New Face Award.
An addicted biker runs out of cigarettes. He joins a race to get more, but has to take help from some peculiar people in the audience to stay in the competition.
Sander Joon, an Estonian film director, is known for award-winning animations Velodrool, Moulinet, Sounds Good, and the Oscars-shortlisted Sierra (2022). He also taught animation at the Estonian Academy of Arts. In 2023, he was honored with the Young Cultural Figure award by the Estonian president for his contributions to Estonian culture.
In the midst of the frenzy night a man finds himself lost in the crevasse of time. It was not the grotesque beings nor the monsters, but it was he who "was here, but wasn't here". He was the phantom. Buried under memories full of inhibition and promises that never kept - words washed up on the shore - time keeps him at a distance from the "place" . And he hears poems coming on the waves from the other side ryhming and lapping against the shore.
Born in 1980 in Tokachi, Hokkaido / Currently living in the northern foothills of Nagano Prefecture. Spent his childhood in Hokkaido. After moving to the UK at the age of 15, He graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2004 with the support of the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs’ Artist Overseas Study Program. His work revolves around personal themes, using repetition, metamorphosis, and frame structures unique to 2D animation film making. In recent years he has been creating video installations and paintings in which multiple instances of the same person or object are simultaneously projected within a single space. His recent work “Iizuna Fair” is currently on display as part of the permanent collection at the Nagano Prefectural Museum of Art.

Born 26 November in Zagreb. Lucija is an animation film director and illustrator. She studied animation in Zagreb, Krakow, Prague and Tallinn. After graduating from Estonian Academy of Arts she decided to stay in Tallinn and work in Eesti Joonisfilm studio. Besides animated films Lucija has made illustrations for children’s books and caricatures for political magazines.
Born 26 January in Viljandi. Morten studied animation in Estonian Academy of Arts and made two films in the process. After his studies he has been working in Eesti Joonisfilm.
A swinging animation drawn with a pencil. It shows a view of a coffee shop interior by panning the camera. Small differences are repeated through rotation, and the inside of the store changes as if seen through a car window.
With the theme of time, space, and memory, she creates animations mainly by drawing or filming frames one by one, using classical techniques such as 8mm film and cyanotype, as well as drawing animation. Her animation films have been shown at the Zagreb International Animation Festival, the GLAS Animation Festival, and the Moscow International Experimental Film Festival, Image Forum Festival, and other festivals in Japan and abroad. Awarded the New Cosmos of Photography 2021 Honorable Mention (selected by Yuki Onodera), the Hokkaido Governor’s Award at the New Chitose Airport Animation Film Festival, and the Yoji Kuri Award at the ASK? While slugs wander across the kitchen floor, Noémie draws up her sel-portrait, shifting and fragmented, on the edge between the intimate and the hubbub of the world.
Trained in illustration at Saint-Luc in Brussels, Noémie Marsily is a multidisciplinary author and artist. She has published several comics including Fétiche (2013) with Les Requins Marteaux, and Memet (2019) with l'Employé du Moi. Alongside Carl Roosens, she co-directs animated short films including Poodle (2010), Around the Lake (2013), and I don't feel anything anymore (2016). Her artistic practice has evolved over several years, through meetings and projects, between comics, illustration and animated cinema.
A little girl reflects on her last summer with her father at his funeral. Set on a small island in Japan where the director was born and raised, the film explores the relationship between the death of her father and the bomb storage in the mountain behind the family house.
Born in 1991 on a small island in the Seto Inland Sea, Ehime, Japan. During her college years in Kyoto, she went on an exchange program to the Rhode Island School of Design, where she discovered independent animation. After completing her graduate studies at the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts, she made her graduation film Chromosome Sweetheart (2017), which received the KuanDog Prize at the KuanDu International Animation Festival and was selected for Frameline41, among other festivals. Her film A Bite of Bone (2021) received the Grand Prize for Short Animation at the 45th Ottawa International Animation Festival, Best Short Animation at the 29th Raindance Film Festival, the New Face Award at the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival Animation Division, and 28 other awards internationally. Alongside her filmmaking practice, she researches sexuality and gender in animation and curates screening programs focused on queer animation. She is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts. She is a co-author of Queer Cinema Studies (edited by Yuka Kanno, Koyo Shobo). Her client work includes the ending animation for the TV anime TRIGUN STAMPEDE, Sayonara no Mukō ni for NHK’s Minna no Uta (sung by Kōhei Matsushita), and the music video Hadaka no Yume for Bialystocks. Her latest film, Eri (2026), is a short animation co-produced by Au Praxinoscope (Japan) and MIYU Productions (France), adapted from Kasumi Asakura’s novel Who Else Is There?
