This program is curated by director Ryo Orikasa, who served as a member of the HAS 2026 Competition Selection Committee. It presents a special focus on the works of André Lindon, a little-known figure even in France, whose independently produced feature film The Invisible Child has gained a cult following. A lonely little boy spends his holidays by the sea. He eventually meets a transparent little girl who fascinates him. Together they set off towards the city... They never leave each other’s side, and the films ends when the boy himself becomes transparent and joins her.
A little boy flips through a picture book where we see a mermaid abandoned by her sisters and who has lost her fish tail, therefore becomes a normal little girl. The boy joins her and together they rise into the air aboard a small rowboat but suddenly the little girl loses her colors then disappears, leaving him alone again! What happened? He continues the journey alone, still, like a castaway caught in a whirlpool that seems destined to be his end. But miracle : the story stops as if in a dream, and he reunites with the little girl who has regained her colors. All of it controlled by a submarine from an other world.
André Lindon was born on January 20, 1951 in Paris. He starts making animated films in 1970. (1974 « Jardin Public » presented in Grenoble Festival, in 1977 « On voyage » presented in Cannes Festival and Annecy Festival. Award from the C.N.C for « Les mers du Sud », in 1979 « Je quitte l’Europe ») He starts creating, drawing and directing « L’Enfant Invisible » (« The invisible Child ») in 1982 and finishes in 1984. The film wins the 3rd award of the Laon Festival, the Bourg en Bresse Award, and the full length feature and critics awards at the Espino Festival in Portugal. In 1986 he works on the full length animated film « Robinson & Cie » by Jacques Colombat. He starts drawing « Le Salut » (« The Knowledge ») in 1990 and finishes it three years later.
