HAS2026 Competition Winners Announced!
Hiroshima Animation Season 2026 has successfully come to a close. Thank you very much to everyone who joined us.
On Sunday, August 23, the final day of the festival, the Awards Ceremony and Closing Ceremony were held, and the winners of each award were announced.
HAS2026 Competition Winners Announced!
The third edition of Hiroshima Animation Season (HAS), held in 2026, received 3,181 submissions from 110 countries and regions, significantly surpassing the 2,149 submissions received for HAS2022 and the 2,634 submissions for HAS2024. A total of 76 films—71 shorts and 5 features—were selected for the competition and screened during HAS2026, held from August 19 to 23.
The five international jury members—Georges Schwizgebel (Switzerland), Elizabeth Hobbs (United Kingdom), Mohamed Ghazala (Egypt), Paulina Ziółkowska (Poland), and Eiko Tanaka (Japan)—selected the following award-winning films.

HAM Competition Winners Announced!
The competition for Hiroshima Animation Season 2026 featured an exceptionally strong selection of submissions from Japan, with many outstanding works among those that were not selected for the HAS Competition. In response, a new competition for Japanese works, the “HAM Competition,” was established as part of the Hiroshima Animation Academy & Meeting (HAM), which is held in conjunction with the festival. (Films selected for the HAM Competition were not also selected for the HAS Competition.) The selection was conducted by HAS Producer Nobuaki Doi, and the selected films were determined with the consent of the filmmakers and screened during HAS2026, held from August 19 to 23.
The three jury members—Draško Ivezić (Croatia), Wang Chi-Sui (Taiwan), and Karolina Davidova (Czech Republic)—evaluated the films and selected the following award winners.
