Notice of Change to the Jury Panel

Regarding Katarzyna Surmacz, who was scheduled to serve as a member of the jury, we regret to inform you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, she is no longer able to travel to Japan. Accordingly, upon Katarzyna’s recommendation, Paulina Ziółkowska has been appointed as a new member of the jury.


▼Profile of Paulina Ziółkowska (Poland)

Paulina Ziółkowska is an award-winning Polish animation filmmaker, based between Poland and Mexico. She graduated from the Film School in Lodz, specializing in animation and special effects, and now is a PhD candidate at the Facultad de Artes y Diseño (FAD), UNAM.

Her work focuses on visual storytelling, often combining different animation techniques in search of the best expression of the narrative. Her films have been widely presented at international festivals, receiving numerous awards, including recognition at the Berlinale, Animafest Zagreb, Trickfilm Festival in Stuttgart, Cinanima and other animation festivals.

She currently teaches animation at the National Mexican Film School (ENAC-UNAM) in Mexico City.

*Please note that for the following programs in which Katarzyna Surmacz was originally scheduled to appear, Koji Yamamura will appear alone for the “International Film Festival Etiuda&Anima,” while Paulina Ziółkowska will appear alone for “Polish School of Animation - Internal World: Women Artists.”
