PROGRAM
Hiroshima Animation Academy & Meeting
SCHEDULE
Aug 21st (Fri) 10:00~ @JMS Aster Plaza Large Meeting Room
Program Overview
Animation has a history of approximately 120 years. It has developed while intertwining with art, entertainment, education, industry, and the cultural identities of various nations. Within it lies a rich potential where diverse fields—such as moving images, fine arts, music, narrative, and technology—intersect.
In this program, students aspiring to pursue research or production will deliver a 5-minute pitch presentation under the theme of "The First Frame"—the starting point of their own activities. In the academic and creative fields, a "pitch" is a presentation format used to concisely and clearly communicate the motivation, content, and future outlook of one's research or production work. The objective is for students to speak in their own words about their initial encounter with animation, the practice and research they have accumulated so far, and the future they wish to realize, while deepening these ideas through dialogue with participants.
Rather than serving as a competitive arena for judging and awarding works, this program is designed as a research exchange platform for presenters and participants to learn together and share questions. Capitalizing on Western Japan's vibrant environment for student presentations, this space aims to foster connections across generations and regions, allowing us to collectively envision the future possibilities of animation education.
Furthermore, this program is positioned as a practical opportunity for students to verbalize their experiences, research, and creative activities, and to communicate them in a public forum—a skill that will become indispensable as they step into society.
