Program Overview
*Please note: This workshop will be conducted in Japanese.*
A hands-on workshop to explore and practice creating compelling character designs with Naoyuki Asano. Following a brief lecture by the instructor on the mindset and approach to character design, participants will practice designing characters based on concepts provided by the instructor.
*Note: This workshop will use analog drawing materials. A4 copy paper, pencils, felt-tip pens, and other drawing tools will be provided at the venue, so there is no need to bring anything yourself.
*Participants are highly encouraged to also attend Naoyuki Asano's talk program held on the same day.
*If the number of applicants exceeds the capacity, a selection process will be conducted by the festival. Your participation will be confirmed upon payment of the registration fee. Please note that if you cancel after your participation is confirmed, the refund will be the amount minus the bank transfer fee. The workshop venue will be disclosed only to confirmed participants.
*After the workshop concludes, the creations will be displayed and presented in the exhibition space within the festival venue. Please be aware of this condition upon application.
Target Audience: High school students and older (regardless of professional experience)
Capacity: 10 participants
Participation Fee: 5,000 JPY
※A separate purchase of either a 1-Day Ticket for August 21 or an All-Pass Ticket is required.

Instructor: Naoyuki Asano
Born in 1980 in Okayama Prefecture.
Animator / Character Designer
Mainly works on character design for TV series and theatrical anime. Representative works include "Mr. Osomatsu," "Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!," and "Urusei Yatsura."
Currently, they are involved as character designer and chief animation director for the TV series "Hirayasumi," scheduled to broadcast in January 2027.
